Dan Bellon
"Born in Bogota, Colombia of German decent, Daniel Bellon came to the United States at age 17. Already interested in typography and graphic design and heavily influenced by street and modern art in his native city, Bellon soon discovered graffiti art in America. He went on to be formally trained in graphic design at the school of DAAP in the University of Cincinnati. While attending school, Daniel became a very prolific graffiti artist and to date has been part of five group shows (two in New York) and one solo show in Brooklyn. His art explores typography as an abstract element within the complex compositions of his pieces. As a professional designer, he has worked for two major studios in New York and has been the Art Director for three publications: ROBOT, a magazine about typography, THIRDSHIFT, a graffiti magazine and RocketPunch, a magazine about pop art and design in Japan. His passion for art and typography earned him features in the book Bodytype by Ina Saltz, Backspin Magazine in Germany, Scribble Magazine, The Source Magazine and various other graffiti and art publications around the world. He has received multiple awards, including a Gold Award from the Dayton Art Director's Club. Bellon has also designed more than 20 typefaces, including a collection of fonts in Japanese.
